First let's just combine the shelves to make it easier. 99 + 99 = 198.
We can simply divide 198 by 11/16 to get the answer. First let's convert 11/16 to a decimal.
11 divided by 16 is 0.6875
So 198 divided by 0.6875 is 288.
288 novels can fit on both the shelves.
