$0.05(35-Q)+$0.25Q=$2.50
$1.75-$0.05Q+$0.25Q=$2.50 Subtract $1.75 from each side.
$0.20Q=$0.75
Q=3.75 To have $2.50, you would have 3.75 quarters, so to have less, the maximum number of (whole) quarters would be 3

Ok this problem takes some problem solving skills!
Let's start. First, we need to divide 250 by 25. This is because each quarter is worth 25 cents, and $2.50 is worth 250 cents.
You can do this on a calculator.
You should get an answer of 10.
This means that 10 quarters can fit in the bag IF THERE IS NO NICKLEs!!!!!So we are not finished.
We have to subtract one quarter.
So the maximum amount of quarters that can fit is 9.
You would have 5 nickles.
Your answer would be 9 quarters.
