Barbarossa was not really a battle, it was a campaign, in many ways are war on its own. All of the above are true, but the most true are 1 and 4, 2 and 3 are just facts

One of the reasons was that The German army suffered massive casualties. Remember that the Russians also suffered a huge number of casualties, but still they were able to hold their ground. The German army failed to push forward and ultimately they had to resort to attacking the United states. So the answer is the first option
