How did geography influence the economy in the Mid-Atlantic/Middle colonies?

The middle colonies' economy developed rapidly because they had the perfect climate to grow tobacco which was always popular. There's even a type of tobacco called Virginia. They were also among the first places where people could dock when they reached the new world, so things like fishing were developed with harbors and docks everywhere.
