Which is a correct first step in solving 5 – 2x < 8x – 3?

5 < 6x – 3
3x < 8x – 3
5 < 10x – 3
2 – 2x < 8x

First option isn't correct because when you transfer -2x on other side you get 10x and not 6x.

Second option isn't correct either. Transfering 5 on other side (from left to right) will get -3-5 = -8 and we still have -3

Third option is correct. We get 10x on right side when switching -2x from left and it will change its sign and will be 2x+8x = 10x on right.

Finally, forth one is not correct. -3 when goes from right side to left will change sign to +3 and when summed with 5 will get 8 and not 2.
