We will use the formula;

m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

m=-1/8 x₁= -4 y₁=0 x₂=s y₂=-1

-(1)/(8)=(-1-0)/(s+4)
-(1)/(8)=(-1)/(s+4)

-1(s+4) = -8

multiply both-side of the equation by -1

s+4 = 8

subtract 4 from both-side of the equation

s + 4 - 4 = 8 -4

s = 4
