A water tank is being filled by pumps at a constant rate. The volume of water in the tank V, in gallons, is given by the equation

V(t)=65t+280 where t is the time, in minutes, the pump has been on
At what rate, in gallons per minute, is the water being pumped into the tank

so V(t)=65t+280
this is like y=mx+b
m is the slope/rate so the rate is 65gallons per minute

just for fun, the tank had 280 gallons origonally

The slope of the line is the rate of change of y with respect to x. Since the units are already gallons and minutes, the rate that the water is being pumped is 65 gallons per minute. Hope this helps! :)
