What is the variation constant for an inverse squared relationship where we know x = –4 and y = 3?

Let the constant be k.

For an inverse squared proportion the formula is y = k/x^2

Insert values of y and x into the formula.
3 = k/(-4)^2
3(-4)^2 = k
k = 3(16)
k = 48
