-3 (8x)+6 (4x) -3 (16)+6 (8) -48+48= 0

Well since we know what x equals we can just plug that into the equation.
-3(8 * 2) + 6(4*2)
Do what is in parentheses first
-3(16) + 6(8)
-48 + 48
The negative and the positive end up canceling out to make this 0
