Two rooms in a house are similar rectangles. Room A is 12 ft by 16 ft. The longer side of Room B is 4 ft shorter than twice the length of the shorter side of Room A. What are the dimensions of Room B?

20 feet by 16 feet
2(12)=24-4= 20 feet

The longer side of room B would be 2(12)-4 or 20. Then you would need to set up a proportion to find the shorter side of room B. (12/16)=(x/20) Cross multiply and you get 15. Room A is 12 x 16 and room B is 15 x 20
