How do you know whether an inequality has no solutions? How do you know whether the solutions are all real numbers?

If you plug in a number that should be in the range of numbers what the equation can equal into the equation and it doesn't equal a number that is with-in the given range. Real numbers are basically any number that can be found on a number line.
