Why did George Washington not run for a third term as president?

he was to scared that the country would become more like a tyranny, and that one person would have too much power and would make the wrong decisions, such as the King of England did. They wanted a variety of CHANGE, and Washington set sum preambles, like its ideal for a president to be elected for 2 terms only.
