8x + x = 63
9x = 63
x = 63/9
x = 7
the fish weighs 7 ounces alone

7 casue 8*x+x=63 9x=63 x=63/9 =7 so x=7(this is the fish weight) lets prove this 8*7+7=63 56+7=63 63=63 so we have proven it
