This is true. Ionic bonds form due to the electrostatic attraction that exists between the 2 oppositely charged ionic species, which includes both the metal and nonmetal. Ions form due to the transfer of electrons from metals to nonmetals, in hope to achieve a full octet, stability.

TRUE: any positively charged object will be attracted to any negatively charged object. It does not matter how the objects acquired the charge, the attraction only depends on the amount of charge, and the distance between the two charged objects.
