Answer:

1. y= 3x+1, 2. y= x+6, 3. car A

Explanation:

the equation is the rule that is followed to find y (the distance the car traveled)

Car A

find a rule to get from x= 2 to y= 7 that also works to get from x= 3 to y =10 and so on... and will find that 3x +1 works for all.

the rule ( the equation) is y= 3x + 1 ; (because 7= 3*2 +1, 10 = 3*3 +1,...)

Car B

y= x+6; (because 6= 0+6, 11= 5+6, ...)

faster means speed so a higher miles per hour rate so that will be represented by the slope of the line the equation gives

y=mx +b is the equation of a line where m -is the slope

y=3x+1 has the slope 3 (car A)

y= x+6 has the slope 1 (car B)

3 > 1 so car A is faster
