(x)/(5) -50= (x)/(6)

30( (x)/(5) -50)= 30((x)/(6))

6x -1500=5x

1500 = x

x=number
x/5 is 50 more than x/6
x/5=50+x/6
6x/30=50+5x/30
minus 5x/30 from both sides
x/30=50
times 30 both sides
x=1500

the number is 1500
