When more than one chemical is combined a mixture is formed. There are various means for making a mixture, they may be carried out by a liquid, solid or gaseous medium. By mixing substances the characteristics of each one are preserved, and there are ways to effect separation after the mixing process using distillation, filtration, freezing. A mixture is not a compound, but a compound will always be derived from a mixture, this occurs when a mixture has differentiation in the individual properties of each element added in the mixture, becoming a compound.
