Hey there! Hello!

So, to find population density, all you need to do is divide the number of people (in this case, the population estimate) by the area of the land you've been given. I'll show the first one for you:

36,500,000 / 163,707 = 222.959311, which rounds to 223.

Hope this helped you out! Feel free to ask me any additional questions if you have any, or if you need any help with the other ones. :-)

Answer:

Population density is defined as the number of people per square unit of an area.

1. California =
(36500000)/(163707) ≈ 223 people per square mile.

2. Florida =
(18300000)/(65758) = 278.3 people per square mile.

3. Iowa =
(2990000)/(56276) = 53.13 people per square mile.

4. New Jersey =
(8690000)/(8722) = 1007.9 people per square mile.

5. Wyoming =
(522000)/(97818) = 5.3 people per square mile.
