equation given

(6)/(7)\x-8=7

calculations
add 8 to both sides
(6)/(7)x-8+8=7+8
divide both sides by 6/7...
which means multiply by 7/6
(6)/(7)x*(7)/(6)=15*(7)/(6)

So now you have
x=15*(7)/(6)=(15*7)/(6)=(105)/(6)=17.5

(Excuse me, I'm not used to the wonky LaTeX on this site...)
