The Five Power Naval Limitation Treaty was a treaty signed by the US, Great Britain, Japan, France, and Italy. The Treaty slowed the arms race and determined that all countries that signed it would keep their capital fleets under a predetermined ratio which meant that Britain would have 5, US would have 5, Japan would have 3, France would have 1.67 and Italy would have 1.67. The Treaty was successful and the major powers reduced their navies.
