Overall the focus was on the three girls,  two was very poor and the other rich. These girls all lived in New York City and did not know that one  event would bring them together as friends. It centered around the Triangle Strike and a tragic fire that led to 146 of 500 employees dying jumping out windows so they wouldn't be burned. There was a struggle for woman to fight for better pay, their inequality, and most of there lives. The ending shined light on the impact that the girls decided to stand up for. Hope was not in vain.

"Uprising" is a historical novel based on the real-life event of the Triangle Factory Fire, written by Margaret Peterson Haddix. The author had very creatively used the facts and her imagination making the events of the fire come to life.

Bella, Yetta, and Jane are the main characters of the novel. On March 25, 1911, a spark ignites piles of cloth. The building gets engulfed in the fire. Yetta, Jane, and Bella tried to save others. Jane gets burned alive while Yetta, in an attempt to escape jumped off the eighth floor, eventually losing her life. Bella survives by running up towards the roof and climbing onto the other building.
