Thoreau living deliberately means that he wanted to experience the world and what it had to teach him. He wanted to discover nature and the world. So, the question is asking which showed him discovering nature? Seemingly meaningless exercises, like bathing in a pond, show this. So, in my opinion, choice A would be the best answer.
