Remember, a number to the negative power means 1 divided by (over) the number to that power.
Thus, we now have:

6^(0) + (1)/( 6^(2) )
Now, also remember a number to the zero power is equal to 1, no matter what.
Thus:

1+ (1)/(36)
Convert 1 into 36/36.

(36)/(36) + (1)/(36) =
(37)/(36)
You can also write it as 1.027 and
1 (1)/(36).
