5x+3y=58
5x-3y=22 First, line your variables up (aready done for you).
-------------
10x = 80 Add the "5x" and "5x" up. The "3y" and "-3y" cancel out.
----- -----
10 10 Divide both sides by 10.
--------------
x = 8 Tada! Your answer for X. Now plug that into an equation.

5(8)+3y=58 Plugin X into equation
40 + 3y = 58 Combine like terms
-40 -40 Isolate variable
-----------------
3y = 18
--- ----
3 3 Divide by 3 to get Y alone
y = 6 Y = 6! Now, put that into a pair to get....
