Answer:

Amount of granola is more than quantity of cashews

Explanation:

Amount of cashews bought by Ally = 1/12 pound

Amount of granola bought by Ally = 5/6 pound

We need to plot the fraction on the number line and also to state which quantity is greater .

First, we will make these fractions equivalent.

(1)/(12)=(1)/(12)\\\\(5)/(6)=(5* 2)/(6* 2)=(10)/(12)

Here, denominator of both the fractions are same.

Numerator of
(1)/(12) is 1

Numerator of
(10)/(12) is 10

Since
10> 1,
(10)/(12)>(1)/(12)\Rightarrow (5)/(6)>(1)/(12)

So, amount of granola is more than quantity of cashews.

Number Line:

Ally bought 1/12 pound of cashews and 5/6 pound of granola. Plot the fractions on-example-1

In order to know which quantity is greater since the given fractions have different denominators, what we are going to do is to find the common denominator of both and that would be 12. So it will become 1/12 and 10/12. Now it is clear which one is greater. Therefore, the answer would be 5/6. Hope this answer helps.
