so first add the 11q and the 3q and you have 14q +4. then subtract 5q from 8q and you are left with 3q. Then your answer will become 14q + 4 + 3q and that then goes down to adding 14q and 3q and that equals 17q. So the final answer becomes 17q + 4.

Not sure, but I guess you could solve it to take out the parenthesis. Here is the answer 17x+4
