a rental car costs $26 per day plus $0.30 per mile. if someone has $350 to spend and needs to drive the car 60 miles each day, for how many days can that person rent the car? assume the car cannot be rented part of a day.

d = the number of days the person can rent the car

Cost per day = $26
Cost per mile = $0.30
Miles per day = 60

Formula(s):
(cost of the rent) = (cost per day) * (number of days) + (cost per mile) * (number of miles)
(number of miles) = (miles per day) * (number of days)

350 = 26 * d + 0.30 * 60 * d

350 = 26d + 18d

350 = d(26 + 18)

44d = 350

(44d)/(44) = (350)/(44)

d = 7.959

The person could rent the car for 8 days

26 * 8 + 0.30 * 60 * 8

208 + 144 = 352

The person would spend $352 to rent the car.

if u have to drive the car 60 miles per day, at 0.30 per mile, then u r spending
(60 x 0.30) = 18 per day on just driving.

plus the 26 per day for the rental

totals : 18 + 26 = 44 per day

44d = 350
d = 350/44
d = 7.95 rounds to 8 days

answer is 8 days
