Use the distributive property and multiply 8 with x an 8 with 2 which will give you 8x + 16 = 36
subtract 16 on both sides which gives you 8x = 20
divide 8 on both sides which gives you x = 2 4/20 or 2 1/5
X=2 1/5

We have to use the Distributive Property in this equation.
By the Distributive Property,
becomes
Now we need to isolate x. Remember PEMDAS?
Simplify the right side.
