126 is 100% and you need 100%-33 1/3% which is 66 2/3%
66 2/3 as an improper fraction is 200/3
200/3*126= (200*126)/3 =8400
8400/100=84
So he spent $84.00 for the phone.
Hope this helps :)

Start with a proportion. 33 1/3/100= x/126. Now do 126 x 33 1/3. 33 1/3 is 100/3 as a improper fraction. 126/1 x 100/3 is 4,200. Now divide 4,200 by 100 which is $42. So you get $42 off your whole purchase. 126-42= 84. Your answer is $84
