The midpoint of two coordinates can be obtained using the formula:

(x_1+x_2)/(2),\text{ }(y_1+y_2)/(2)

x1 = -1

y1= 2

x2= -7

y2= -4

\begin{gathered} \frac{-7\text{ +(-1)}}{2},(2+(-4))/(2) \\ \\ (-7-1)/(2),(2-4)/(2) \\ (-8)/(2),(-2)/(2) \end{gathered}

\begin{gathered} \text{midpoint} \\ (-4,-1) \end{gathered}
