The answer is 7/10.
A number which is a midway between two numbers is actually average of those two numbers.
Let x be our desirable midway number:
x = (2/5 + 1)/2 =(2/5 + 5/5)/2= (7/5)/2 = 7/5 * 1/2 = 7/10
