(2)y = –5x – 1

Here we have two linear functions, the point of intersection of the two lines is the solution coordinate (x, y)

using a graph as asked by the question we can figure out the intercept

I=(-1,4) hence

x=-1

y=4

let´s check in the equations

(1)y=x+5

4=-1+5

4=4,ok

(2)y=-5x-1

4=-5(-1)-1

4=+5-1

4=4,ok

We equal the two y.

x+5=-5x-1
6x=-6
x=-1
