A student draws a triangle to scale using side lengths 8, 16, and 18. Can the student conclude that this is a right triangle?

Answer: This triangle is not a right triangle

Step-by-step explanation:

To find this you can use the set up for the pythagorean theorem. The hypotenuse is the c while the other sides are a and b.


{a}^(2) + {b}^(2) = {c}^(2)

After setting it up you add in the numbers


{8}^(2) + {16}^(2) = {18}^(2)

Then square them


64 + 256 = 324

Then you add the two sides together


320 = 324

If they are equal then it is a right triangle. While if they are not equal it is either obtuse or acute.
