Answer: Resolute

Beowulf is a hero, and as a hero, he understands his duty very well. Beowulf knows that he needs to kill this dragon in order to protect his people. However, he is not as strong as he once was, and the dragon proves to be a difficult challenge for him. Although Beowulf eventually dies, there is a redeeming element in his death, as he was able to accomplish a great task, protect his people and die in order to fulfill his fate.

The correct answer is resolute

He believes that he needs to protect his people from the dragon and he never falters when attacking him. It is only later that he begins to understand that he can't do it alone and that he will probably die in the fight.
