In "The Call of the Wild", by Jack London, Buck's memories and wild yearnings are represented by a vision of the hairy man. The main character, Buck is a dog. Buck has visions of what may seem like a hairy man "The hair of this man was long and matted..." this man utters strange sounds. Buck begins the story as a pet and finishes its journey back in nature, a wild dog. In this visions, he travels through time and sees him with this hairy caveman beside the fire.
