Correct answer:

A. Both tried to spread Catholicism in the New World.

An example of this can be seen when some missions along the coast of Florida and northern Georgia were financed by the Spanish government. These missions were extended to Texas, New Mexico and California, with various achievements, converting the groups of Native Americans throughout the Spanish colonial period.

French Catholics when they settled in the New World in 1604 also brought missionaries to convert the entire Abanaki tribe of Native Americans. In these two examples we can see that both colonists, French and Spanish, wanted to infuse Catholicism in the New World as a form of power.

The answer will be A. Both tried to spread Catholicism in the new world. Both were devoted catholics and the idea also was to "impose" their religion as a way to expand their domains
