The Physics Club is planning to serve homemade ice cream at the annual picnic. Alicia's mother has provided a recipe that calls for 6 eggs for one gallon of ice cream. There will be 750 people at the picnic, and the club has bought 4 ounce paper cups. How many eggs will be needed to make enough ice cream to feed everyone one serving? (Calculate the answer in decimal form, then round to the nearest whole dozen.)

Answer: 140.64 or about 12 dozens.

Explanation:

Given: The number of people at picnic = 750

Capacity of a paper cup = 4 ounces

Then the total capacity of 750 such cups =
4*750=3000\text{ ounces}

We know that One gallon = 128 ounces.

⇒ One ounce =
(1)/(128) gallon.

Then the total capacity of 750 such cups =
(3000)/(128)=23.4375\approx23.44 gallon.

Also, According to the given recipe , the number of eggs for 1 gallon of ice cream=6

Then, the number of eggs for 23.44 gallon of ice-cream =
23.44*6=140.64\approx141

the number of eggs will be needed to make enough ice cream to feed everyone one serving in decimal form=140.64

We know that 1 dozen = 12 objects

Then, the number of eggs will be needed to make enough ice cream to feed everyone one serving in dozens=
(141)/(12)\text{ dozens}=11.75\text{ dozens}\approx 12\text{ dozens}

there are 128 ounces in a gallon. so if each cup holds 4 ounces, you can use 32 cups per gallon (128/4).so with 1gallon you can only serve 32 people. for 750 people, divide 750 by 32. 750/32=23.4375. so you would need 23.4375 gallons, multiply that by the amount of eggs needed for each gallon. 23.4375x6=140.625. you would need 141 eggs
