You are in a bike race. When you get to the first checkpoint you are 2/5 of the distance away to the second checkpoint. When you get to the second checkpoint you are 1/4 of the distance to the finish. What is the distance from start to check point 1?

16 miles I believe because if you take the total distance and multiply that by 2/5 you get 16 hope this helps.

Answer: He is
(1)/(10) of the distance from start to check point 1.

Explanation:

Since we have given that

When you get to the first checkpoint

he is 2/5 of the distance away to the second checkpoint.=
(2)/(5)

When you get to the second checkpoint you are 1/4 of the distance to the finish. =
(1)/(4)

so, the distance from start to the check point 1 is given by

(2)/(5)* (1)/(4)\\\\=(2)/(20)\\\\=(1)/(10)

Hence, he is
(1)/(10) of the distance from start to check point 1.
