Find two consecutive odd integers whose sum is 72. Which equation would be used to solve this problem? (HINT: The equation has been simplified some.)

2x = 72
2x + 2 = 72
x + 2 = 72
2x + 1 = 72

The equation which would be used to solve this problem is 2x+2 = 72
Let's say you pick an odd number three. This means that the next odd number will be 5, which is 2 more than three. It goes the same for every odd number, which means that the second option is the correct one.
So, x is the first odd number, and x + 2 is the second odd number, which means that the equation is: x + (x+2) = 2x + 2
