Answer:

We have to evaluate the expression ,which consist of negative rationals or Decimals :

= -4.6 + (-0.4)+(-7.2)

= As , (+)(-)= -v e

So, Opening the brackets, the expression transforms to

= -4.6 - 0.4 - 7.2

When there is negative sign before two decimals, we add the two decimals and place negative sign before the result.

= (-4.6 - 0.4)-7.2

= -5.0 -7.2

= -12.2

As, Rationals or Decimals are associative and commutative under addition.

So, -4.6- 0.4 -7.2 , will be equivalent to

1. -4.6 + (-0.4-7.2)

2.-4.6 + (-7.2-0.4)

3. (-4.6 - 7.2)-0.4

4. (-7.2 -4.6)-0.4

5. (-0.4 -4.6)-7.2

6. ( -4.6 -0.4) -7.2

we have

-4.6+(-0.4)+(-7.2)

Possibility N 1

=-4.6-0.4-7.2\\=-(4.6+0.4+7.2)

Possibility N 2

=-4.6-0.4-7.2\\=-4.6-(0.4+7.2)

Possibility N 3

=-4.6-0.4-7.2\\=-0.4-(4.6+7.2)

Possibility N 4

=-4.6-0.4-7.2\\=-7.2-(4.6+0.4)
