An astronaut weighs 104 N on the moon, where the acceleration of gravity is 1.61 m/s2. How much does he weigh on earth? ...?

Newton's Second Law of Motion states, β€œThe force acting on an object is equal to the mass of that object times its acceleration.” We calculate as follows:

F = ma

At the moon,

104 N = m(1.61 m/s^2)
m = 64.60 kg

Mass will still be the same when on earth since mass is conserved.

At earth,

F=ma
F = 64.60 kg (9.8 m/s^2)
F = 633.04 N <----ANSWER
