Sal thinks the answer to the expression 16+8÷2² is 6. Where did she go wrong?

The correct answer is 18. She went wrong because she solved the equation in the wrong order she did 16+8, then got 24 then solved the exponent got 4 then divided 24 by 4 getting 6

She didn't follow the order of operations. She added 16 and 8 before dividing. Remember PEMDAS (Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction).

She should first square 2 to get 4, then divide 8 by 4, and finally add 2 to 16 to get 18.
