To multiply fractions, you multiply across in both numerators and denominators.

(a)/(b)* (c)/(d) = (a*c)/(b*d)

To divide one fraction by another, it is the same as multiplying the first fraction by the reciprocal of the second fraction.

( (a)/(b) )/( (c)/(d) ) = (a)/(b)* (d)/(c)

To add and subtract fractions, first make the fractions have the same denominators. Then add or subtract the numerators. The denominators stay the same.

(a)/(b)+ (c)/(b)= (a+c)/(b)
