First, the angle sum forumlas:sin(α+β)=sinαcosβ+sinβcosαcos(α+β)=cosαcosβ−sinαsinβSo,cos(3θ)=cos(2θ+θ)=cos(2θ)cosθ−sin(2θ)sinθ=(cos2θ−sin2θ)cosθ−(2sinθcosθ)sinθ
From there, it's distribute and simplify...

How do I do this? I'm not sure how to find the answer due to it having 3theta instead of theta. What changes with 3theta?

How do I do this? Or rather, what does 3theta change about the problem since there are problems like this with guides but not with 3 theta.
