Can someone give me a brief overview of the quadratic formula?

X equals negative b plus or minus the square root of b squared minus 4ac all over 2a.

When you're factoring an equation, it's in this format ax^2 + bx + c.
You plug the corresponding letter into the quadratic formula and simplify.
Simplify what's under the square root first. Then work out the top part, then divide by 2a. You work from the inside out.
