dog/cat = 4/5
4 48
--- = ------ cross multiply
5 x
4x=5*48
x = (5*48)/4 = 5*12 = 60
x=60 what mean that there are 60 cat owners

48 dog owners* (5 cat owners/4 dog owners)= 60 cat owners
Note that the unit "dog owners" cancels out so you are left with the answer.
Answer: 60 cat owners
