Equation:
w+3=4w-6

To solve for w, you need to get w on one side.

Add 6 to each side

w+3+6=4w-6+6

Subtract w from each side

w-w+9=4w-w

9=3w is what the equation is now with w on one side.

The last step now to find the value of w is to divide 9 by 3w (always divide the number by the variables when doing these type of equations)

9 ÷
3=3

Answer: w=3

w + 3 = 4w - 6
4w - w = 3 + 6
3w = 9
w = 3
