Quadratic formula : -[b+-sqrt { (b^2) - 4ac }] / 2a
Replacing values, we get
-[1+-(1-4(12))] / 2
=-(1+-(1-48)) /2
=-(1+-(-47)) /2
So we get two equations:

a= -(1-47)/2
=-(-46)/2
= 46/2
=32

b= -(1+47)/2
=-48/2
=-24
