49a^2+14a+1
49a^2+7a+7a+1
7a(7a+1)+1(7a+1)
(7a+1)(7a+1)
= (7a+1)^2

You would multiply 49 by 1. After that you try to find the factors that would add to be -14 and multiply 1.
(49a-7)(49a-7)
Simplified:
(7a-1)(7a-1)
