Draw three 10 by 10 grids and shade in two whole grids and then shade 17 units or squares from the third grid

Answer:

Using grids to model percentages is to use a grid with 100 hundred squares in it, each square will represent 1%.

So, in this case, we would need to use there grids with 100 hundred squares each, because the given percentage is more than 200%.

In one grid, we paint all squares, which will represent 100%.

In the second grid, we also paint all squares, which will represent another 100%.

Until now we have 200% done.

Then, in the third grid, we just paint 17 squares, which is 17%.

At the end, we would have 100% + 100% + 17% = 217%
